Well this is a first for me . I wanted to create this site to keep connected with family and friends and to help them connect to my upcoming experience in Guatemala. I feel the purpose of this trip can be likened to "spreading my wings and learning to fly. I have talked the talk of social responsibility and it is time to walk the walk thus the title of this blog "the time has come".
January 19 08 to April 13 08 I am planning a trip to Guatemala. The first part, three out of four weeks ,will be in language school. The third week I have a meeting in the Alcade (village) of Chajul to discuss plans to help in some surrounding alcades. I am hoping to build two or three student centers and provide micro loans to a few local people. Also I am going to look at nine villages that need drinkable water with the goal of gaining enough solid information to raise funds to build this project. This trip is the" get your feet wet trip"and I'm going to feel my way through it one day at a time. I want to build relationships and ear what vision of help the local communities have, then return to the states to raise funds for a return trip in the winter of 08. I invite you to come along with me through this site, connect with the Ixil people, send me advice as I blunder along, and catch a vision of what a little help can do for people in need.
bienvinedo y gracias

Hi hon, I thought I would try to be your first comment and make your day! Can't wait to see some new pics and hear your latest news. Love you, Carol.
Love your blog and vision, Michael! I am very excited for you and all that God has prepared already and will continue to do as you put feet to your actions. It seems like you have met with God and He has given you His heart and wisdom in walking it out...years in the making, I know.
I look forward to staying connected during this time you are away and after. I truly am excited for you, as i know you have weathered the test of time to get to this point.
I will continue to carry you and God's purposes under my heart. Continue to go with God and stay the course! Debbie
